Typhoon Bopha Update

The overall damage and effects of this hurricane are now being reported and being seen by the world. The official total dead is 316 people in Compostela Valley,165 in New Bataan, and 301 in Davao Oriental. More than 45 people were killed elsewhere. Nearly 900 are missing, including the fishermen and 440 from New Bataan alone. The damage has caused nearly 400,000 people that lost their homes  evacuate to public centers or stay with relatives. The local authorities have also enforced a strict curfew to cut down on the looting going on in the effected area. This typical area of the Philippines are well know for its bannana production in the world. It is estimated that the typhoon has destroyed about 18 percent of the banana plantations in Mindanao. This totals to an estimated $300 million loss. This will not only effect the country but also the banana market by raising its price.
